Small GroupsWe want small groups to be fun, learning environments. We know that discipleship doesn't happen primarily on Sunday mornings, so we need these small groups to spur each other on and keep each other accountable. We don't just want to share more life together. We want to share more DEEPER life together.Small, tight knit, Christ-loving groups accomplish this!Find out more by contacting info@emmausnw.org(Don't like groups? There are some at Emmaus who thrive better with one or two other people! We can find you someone to connect with!)NOTE: New groups will be forming in the new year! Stay tuned...
MilestonesWhatever life hands us, it’s about doing it together. Life was never meant to do alone. So, if you whether you’re celebrating a birth, wanting to be baptized, or mourning the loss of someone you care about, we can help. Contact pastor Gary (gary@emmausNW.org) with any questions you may have about any of these life milestones.BaptismWe invite you to participate in believer’s baptism, an opportunity to publicly identify yourself with Jesus in his death and resurrection. This is a sacred and beautiful opportunity to declare, “I believe the best possible way to live is the way of Jesus, and I am committed to following Christ—daily dying to myself and allowing the resurrected Christ to live in and through me.”Baptism is not a means of salvation; rather it is a outward sign of an inward committment to follow Jesus with your life. We baptize people all throughout the year, so, contact us to request information about the baptism class if you’re interested in being baptized (gary@emmausNW.org).Family Blessing (Child Dedications)It’s about Jesus, both for parents and for children. There is a Biblical precedent for parents publically committing to raise their children in a home that pursues the things of God! Child Dedication at Emmaus is a practice in which parents make an honest commitment to raising their child(ren) in the Christian faith. This service typically includes a Scripture reading, prayer, and a series of vows by parents. If desired, parents and families may personalize this service. For example, it might include blessings or prayers from grandparents or incorporating meaningful songs and/or other creative elements. When a child is old enough and makes the choice to follow Jesus for themself, they have the opportunity to declare their commitment to Jesus through baptism. Children being baptized at Emmaus must understand what baptism means and must be able to declare their intention to follow the way of Jesus. If you’d like to have a child dedicated (a Family Blessing, please contact the office at info@emmausNW.org and we can sign you up!).FuneralsIf you are in need of a pastor or minister to officiate a funeral and you live in Bothell, Woodinville, Kirkland, Seattle, Lynnwood, or beyond, please contact Pastor Gary at gary@emmausNW.org.

PhilosophyWorship is more than singing a song…it’s a lifestyle. When people walk through the doors at Emmaus, we want everyone to experience the awesomeness of God. You don’t have to jump up and down. You don’t have to be silent or loud. You don’t even have to sing to experience the presence of God. But, something supernatural takes place when we participate and worship God for who He is, what He’s done, and what He will do as the giver of hope!ExpressionsAt Emmaus, we might sit. We might stand. We might clap our hands or even raise them in praise like we’re at a Seahawks game. But, regardless of what we are doing with our bodies on the outside, God cares about what’s happening on the inside…in our hearts! Be yourself. Respond to God’s goodness. Respond to his mercy and forgiveness. Respond to his awesomeness. Worshiping God changes us and blesses God.Serve On The TeamWe’re always looking for musicians and vocalists to join our team. Play bass? Drums? Guitar? Violin or cello? Piano? We want to talk to you! We are currently looking for people who have the talent and the heart to be a committed team player on our worship team. We’re also looking for people to do the important jobs of sound, powerpoint, and graphic arts. Our VISION:~To send people on short-term missions trips and to adopt an entire community in a developing country.~To be instrumental in planting and establishing other churches in the Seattle area.~To partner with the community in service that demonstrates the love of God to meet the holistic needs of our community with our resources.~To identify, deploy, and empower leaders to be light in the community and servants in the church. Our STYLE:In essential beliefs — we have unity. There is one Body and one Spirit…there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all…Ephesians. 4:4-6 In non-essential beliefs — we have liberty.“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters… Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls… So then each of us will give an account of himself to God… So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.” Romans 14:1,4,12,22
What We Believe.Bible- We believe that a collection of authors were inspired by God to record the events of their situation and world for our benefit . In other words, the Bible, when interpreted well, guides us in most matters. When the Bible does not speak to an issue directly, we may accumulate information from the whole Bible and our experiences to arrive at a given answer.Church- We believe that the church is a collection of people who become the church as they live out the values that Jesus spoke about in the Bible.Trinity- We believe God’s essence is found in the community of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All three are directly or indirectly referred to as “God” in the Bible.Baptism- We believe that everyone who professes to be a follower of Jesus must be baptized into Christ. This is done by fully immersing one into water. In baptism, a Jesus follower identifies with Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection to new life.Salvation- We believe that a person’s redemption is in Jesus alone. We are not permitted, according to Scripture, to determine the eternal destination of people—we choose to leave that up to God.Spiritual Gifts– We believe God gives gifts (talents unique to you) for the purpose of expanding His family, the church. Therefore, everyone is to use those gifts for the glory of God in love and humility.Sin- We believe that sin separates us from God and we are in need of God to remove the stain of sin from our souls. Christ’s finished work on the cross completed the work necessary for salvation and for the forgiveness of sins. The Future- We believe in the literal return of Jesus Christ to the earth. No person knows when, we just know that it’s going to happen because the Bible explicitly teaches and climaxes in the return of Christ.
What can you expect at Emmaus Church on Sunday mornings at Emmaus? Casual Atmosphere- Come dressed casually. If you’re wearing a suit, you’ll be overdressed and people will think you’re the pastor.Relevant Style and Sermons- You don’t have to check your brain in at the door….sermons that make you think, challenge the status quo, inspire change, and encourage you to enter God’s story will be the norm. Great Music- Not too loud, not to soft. Contemporary. Fun. Energetic. A Place for Kids- Your kids will love Adventure Land at the movie theaters. All of our workers have had background checks and are educated to provide the best environment for your child to grow in every way!A Place to Connect- Not only will you find Starbucks coffees and pastries, you’ll find a place to just hang out and enjoy yourself.
Our MISSION:COMMUNITY : MEANING : MISSIONJesus said to the religious leader’s of his day that their spirituality was way too complicated…too many rules and hoops to jump through. He said all the law and the prophets could be summed up in this statement: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” Why make it more complicated than that? What that looks like at Emmaus:COMMUNITY (aka "hang out"):Emmaus is a safe place to explore Christianity, grow in your faith, and meet people just like you! Hanging out at church on Sundays with other Christians for encouragment, worship, and celebration is the best thing you'll do in your week!Different size groups meet throughout the week too. It's a great way to get to know people!MEANING (aka "connect with God"): What does it mean to "follow Jesus"? "Like he's in a car or something?" Kinda. Following Jesus means we allow him to be the driver in our lives. It's an ongoing thing! So, how do you find meaning in your life? By being intentional about reading the Bible, praying, and connecting with other Christians is a great road to be on!MISSION (aka "discover what you've been created to do): We are never more like Jesus when we are serving our world. Whether it’s serving inside the church, or outside the church, we are all about giving our lives away. When we give our lives away, we enter God’s story by joining him in his mission to redeem the world!
